The God of Angel Armies

Today I am simply sharing something God showed me in my quiet time – I hope it blesses you as well.

God holds the whole world in His hand

Several times in Isaiah 44-48, God says (I was reading the Message) – don’t these people notice that they find a great tree, wait for it to get big and strong, then they cut it down. With half the tree, they warm their homes, cook their meat and bake their bread – with the other half they make a no-god and worship it.

God also describes Himself as the one who created the sky and earth – everything we have comes from Him! Isaiah reminds us that God is the God of Angel Armies – hosts just waiting to do His work – and often on our behalf!

About the third time through this rendition, I began to wonder what no-gods I have built, sure that if I don’t do a, b or c, my world will fall apart – who am I trying to please instead of looking to God for answers. Then I read:

Isaiah 46:12-13:  “Now listen to me: You’re a hardheaded bunch and hard to help. I’m ready to help you right now. Deliverance is not a long-range plan. Salvation isn’t on hold. I’m putting salvation to work in Zion now, and glory in Israel.”

I looked at all the issues that were heavy on my heart – mostly parental at this point – and set them before God. My prayer was this:

“God, you made the heavens and the earth. My abilities are less than a sliver compared to yours, and you can work in each of these situations to help each person be the person you created them to be. Please do it. I can’t. The daily battles wear me out, and get us nowhere. They need you. You work from the inside out. Please show up for this person.”

Then the alarm went off. I want to share this with you today:

  1. This was so encouraging. I was just sharing this Bible lesson with my Sunday school kids, but I was so excited about sharing it with THEM, I didn’t personally apply it to MY heart at the moment. Thank you for bringing it back to my attention this morning so I could feel the personal presence of the Lord in my life.

Praying with you. Such a great reminder of God’s intentions toward us.
